Here are my interview questions from my first siebel interview. Enjoy..!

1.What does position and responsibilities mean in Siebel?
2. What is Siebel file system?
3. describe s_party concept? whats the purpose?
4. What is drilldown & how to do u create it?
5. do you prefer workflows or scripting?
6. what is picklist and what are different types?
8. what is bounded picklist?
9. where do u enter values for a picklist?
10. what is hierarchical picklist?
12. what is a Business Component? Can u create a new BC?
13. What does registering a view mean?
14. how many applets can a view have?
15. is drill down defined in a view or in an applet?

Pretty basic right....imagine these questions for a preson who has never worked in siebel before...LOL.

I am new for this site.... posting the answer for the first question:

Position: Access to Data-Level Screens
Responsibility: Access View Level Screens

A position within your company is associated with a division and is associated with the organization to which that division belongs.

Responsibility gives access to views where as position gives access to data in those views.

What is Siebel file system?

Siebel File System is a shared directory which is used to store the compressed files
used by Siebel application. (eg: test data)  It is shared across all the Siebel Servers.

describe s_party concept? whats the purpose?

PARTY Tables: Accounts, Organizations, Internal Divisions, Contacts, Employees Positions, and Households.
S_PARTY Table is base table of the extension table of the above.
The data is brought into BC through implicit join....

4. What is drilldown & how to do u create it?

Ans: Drill down is the Child entity in Applet. It is define on Particular Field. whenever drilldown on field it is going to show another view. 2 types of Drill downs. 1 Static Drilldowns 2.Dynamic Drilldowns.

5. do you prefer workflows or scripting?

Ans: First of all we need to try to solve the business requirement using Workflows only. Workflows are used to automate the Business process.If u r not able to satisfy the  Business requirement then solve by using e-Scripting. if u go scripting we can get performance issues.

6. what is picklist and what are different types?

Ans: Pick list  the selection of value under dropdown box. 2 types of Picklist 1. Static picklist 2. Dynamic picklist

8. what is bounded picklist?

Ans: Bounded Picklist means whenever creation of picklist if we mention the property as bounded we  dont get a chance to enter a new value for that particular picklist. If  we give unbounded we can have a chance to enter new value but that  entered new value is applicable to particular record only.

9. where do u enter values for a picklist?

Ans: we enter the values at Type  values att List of values sitemap_>Admoin.Data->LOV

10. what is hierarchical picklist?

Ans: Hierachial Picklist is the  one type of Picklist  the values will depend on the parent value.
when we create pick list we give picklist hierachi as the propertyname.
Ex: If we seelect COuntryy as the INDIA so INDIA related states only displayed if we select  Particular state then it going to display that state related cities only. we can get very gud example in service request just exploere it u can get gud idea on Hierarchial picklist.
12. what is a Business Component? Can u create a new BC?

Ans: We can Able tto create NEW BC with fallowing properties name, projecct class, table by default we can class name as css buscomp or css bcbase. BC is the logical reporesentation of grouping  data from one o more table. It is a fundamental business entity in users world.

13. What does registering a view mean?
we r ggoing to assign the view to particular  user . to regestering the user we need to do these steps. go to-> admin . applicaiton->views-> new vie(in this we give wat we create new view name) this one assign to particular rsposibility in that having particular user(IF we create the user)  so we r giving the acces to see that particular user to acces  that view.

14. how many applets can a view have?
 we have List applet, Form applet, MVG applet, Hierarchial Applet, COnstraint applet.

15. is drill down defined in a view or in an applet?

Drill down is defined on Applet. Drill down is the child object tupe of Applet. We do configuration on Particular Filed.
